The objective
PROTRAMAP (Peasant Mass Transformation Project) is ORCAPE’s major activity. It aims to organise village families into “peasant atoms”, that is, household units, to facilitate their access to resources and markets.
A first phase launched in 2022
The first phase was launched in 2022 with the maturation of the project and the registration of the first peasant atoms in the localities of Gari-gombo, Kentzou, Bafia, Mbalmayo and Mbangassina.
256 peasant atoms were targeted in the East (Bélabo), Centre (Obala, Bafia) and West (Bazou) regions.
Between 2023 and 2024, registration operations continued, and the governance structure was reorganised to optimise deployment in the field.
Actions that support the project
Community dialogue (2022)
Awareness-raising with traditional chiefdoms in the East (Ngoutou, Konga, Tikondi…) on the importance of land management.
Capacity building (2022 – 2023)
Leadership, management and institutional development workshops for national and regional managers.
Health and citizenship
Regular awareness campaigns against HIV/AIDS, with distribution of condoms and voluntary testing.
Education (2023)
Donation of school supplies and teaching materials to the Saint Sébastien Catholic primary school in Lablé, Bafia.
Technical partners
- IRAD: capitalising on agricultural research and use of improved seeds;
- SODEPA: supporting farmers in agro-pastoral areas;
- SYNAGRI (Tunisia): international exchanges and support on agricultural projects.
